Re:       Workshop: Overview of Leave of Absence (FML, CFRA, PDL) for
Staff and Academic Employees 

When:  Wednesday, September 16, 2009 (1:30 to 4:30)

Where:  Employee Development Center, 1160 University Ave

 

This workshop will:

 

1.     Clarify the basic provisions and requirements of the Family
Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the California Family Rights Act (CFRA), and
Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL) to assist departments in complying with
federal and state laws as they relate to staff and academic employees.

 

2.     Clarify the FMLA amendments that were effective  January 16, 2009
and explain how those amendments, combined with the requirements of CFRA
and PDL, are currently impacting university practice. 

 

3.     Provide procedural guidelines for determining eligibility,
identifying and designating Leave of Absences, providing timely and
appropriate notice, determining start dates, tracking FMLA, CFRA & PDL,
and recordkeeping.
