Dear Wellness Program Participants:
I am excited to invite you to our upcoming Walk and Talk event with Associate Vice Chancellor, Alex Najera! Alex is the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer.  He brings to UCR experience and depth of knowledge in leadership and organizational development, human resource policy and practice, recruitment, and employee and labor relations in university and government institutions.  During the period 2014 - 2019 Alex supported the campus in various human resources roles, including Director of Employee and Labor Relations and Interim Associate Vice Chancellor/Chief Human Resources Officer.
Alex has had a variety of careers and employment experiences. In the last 17 years he has served in various human resources roles including the Associate Vice President of Human Resources & Co-Chief Diversity Officer at California State University San Bernardino, Principal HR Analyst for the City of Indio, and County of Riverside. He has experience in student affairs serving as an Admissions Counselor & Recruiter for CSUSB. He has worked for the San Francisco Bar Association as a Client Advocate, supporting indigent communities with items ranging from evictions, bankruptcy filing support, benefits determination appeals and victims of domestic violence. He is a long-term resident of the Inland Empire and has called this region home since 1991. He is a father of seven, a first-generation student and immigrant from El Salvador. His hobbies are gardening, learning to play musical instruments and having fun with his kids. He received his Bachelor of Arts in history from UC Berkeley and his master's in public administration from CSUSB.

  *   Water bottle to stay hydrated.
  *   Your enthusiasm and willingness to connect with others.
