UCOP recently received notice from Delta Dental regarding a data breach impacting 190,927 UC Delta Dental PPO Plan participants. Between May 27, 2023, and May 30, 2023, Delta Dental's file transfer tool, MOVEit, was breached by hackers. Delta Dental took immediate action by halting access to the MOVEit software, conducting a thorough investigation, removing the malicious files, informing local authorities and enhancing monitoring of unauthorized access related to MOVEit transfers.
The breach compromised personal identifying information including name, address, social security number, date of birth and health care information.
Delta Dental is offering affected individuals two years of free identity theft monitoring services through Kroll.  Kroll will send Identity Theft Services notification<https://hr.ucr.edu/sites/default/files/2023-12/SAMPLE%20NOTIFICATION%20-Delta%20Dental%20of%20California%20and%20affiliates%20Adult_0.pdf> letters in batches to impacted participants via U.S. mail over the next few weeks.  Impacted individuals must visit https://enroll.krollmonitoring.com within 90 days of receiving the notification letter to activate the monitoring services.
For inquiries about the breach or additional information on the identity theft protection program, the Kroll customer service team is available Monday through Friday at 1-800-693-2571, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Pacific Time.
