UCOP has created a new Job Aid<https://spwebserv.ucop.edu/LocationUsers/LOCjobaids/UCPC_PHCM_BENLOCJA_EligibilityforCOBRAContinuationCoverage.pdf> to provide a clear understanding of COBRA qualifying events and the process involved. This Job Aid<https://spwebserv.ucop.edu/LocationUsers/LOCjobaids/UCPC_PHCM_BENLOCJA_EligibilityforCOBRAContinuationCoverage.pdf> outlines the specific events that trigger COBRA eligibility, such as termination of employment, reduction in work hours, divorce or legal separation, death of the covered employee, dependent child reaching the maximum coverage age, or the covered employee becoming entitled to Medicare benefits.

It also clarifies that certain situations do not qualify for COBRA continuation coverage, such as failure to make timely payments while on direct bill status.
