IT support is available for users affected by the Windows 11 bug that
impacts login and authentication into secure UCR resources.
Dear Colleague,
I am writing to notify you of a Windows 11 bug that was recently
discovered, which impacts Duo Desktop and, in turn, may affect your ability
to successfully authenticate into secure UCR resources.
If the UCR Security Toolset <https://its.ucr.edu/uc-security-toolset> is
installed on your Windows device and your device operating system was
recently upgraded to Windows 11 (check your Windows version
<https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/find-information-about-your-windows-device-a66d52c8-3323-44fd-8f34-a9497bb935e1>),
you may experience an issue where the Duo Prompt is unable to reach Duo
Desktop. This may cause you to run into a warning that prompts you to
install Duo Desktop before logging in (see image below).

What to Do if You Experience the Known Issue
We do not anticipate that this issue will affect many users. However, if
you experience this issue when logging into secure UCR resources (i.e.,
applications, systems, etc. that require UCR login and authentication),
please submit a ticket
<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal?id=ucr_guest_ticket> or
contact BearHelp at (951) 827-4848 from Monday through Friday, between 8:00
am to 5:00 pm. In-person IT support is available Monday through Friday,
8:30am to 5:00pm, at the IT Support Services stations located at the Rivera
and Orbach libraries and the Student Success Center.
Please note that Duo Desktop is likely already installed on your device, so
following the prompts to install will not resolve the issue. You will need
to contact BearHelp for support accessing secure UCR resources.
We apologize for any disruption this known issue may cause to your work or
studies. We deeply appreciate your support and patience as UC Riverside
navigates changes that are essential to the security of our information and
systems.
Sincerely,
Dewight F. Kramer
