[Campus Notice] ServiceNow Tokyo Upgrade - New User Experience for Backend Interface

Hello,
*You are receiving this email because you have a user role in UCR’s
ServiceNow platform* (commonly referred to as SNOW or ServiceLink) that
allows you to log into the backend (e.g., to manage support tickets or
service requests for your unit, to manage knowledge base articles, etc.).
As communicated to campus <https://techalerts.ucr.edu/>, ServiceNow will
undergo a version upgrade starting today, March 3, at 8 PM and concluding
Sunday, March 5, at 10 PM. During the maintenance window campus users
should expect to experience degraded service with momentary downtime.
*Once the update is complete, those with backend access will notice changes
to the backend user interface that affect the location of certain
navigation functions*. An overview of these changes is provided in this

Please review this article to familiarize yourself with the new backend
interface.
Please note that there are no anticipated changes to the frontend view of
the ServiceNow portal and, therefore, no change in user experience for the
majority of campus. You can find more information about the upgrade below:

Please be advised of upcoming maintenance to ServiceNow, taking place from
Friday March 3rd, 2023 at 8:00 PM through Sunday March 5th at 10:00 PM.
During the maintenance window campus users should expect to experience
degraded service with momentary downtime.
This planned maintenance is required to bring our current ROME release up
to date with the TOKYO release. This change endeavors to improve the campus
user experience in the following ways:
- Bringing stability and security up to date with bug fixes and security
patches.
- End of life support is upcoming for the ROME release.
- Enhancement to internal modules
The maintenance event date and time were selected to ensure minimal
potential impact to campus operations and events.
