Dear UC Researchers:

We are writing to inform you of a funding opportunity for public health-related COVID-19 studies and to request information about current work or future studies that are related to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) priority COVID-19 science questions.

1.     Call for proposals

The CDPH has identified COVID-19 priority science topics and questions for which they are seeking academic collaborators [PDF Attached]. The UC-CDPH Modeling Consortium has limited funds to support studies that address CDPH's priority science questions.

Process and timeline:

  * Proposals must be submitted via email to UCCovidModeling at ucsf.edu<mailto:UCCovidModeling at ucsf.edu> using the provided template [Word Document Attached] by December 10, 2021.

  * Each investigator may submit no more than one proposal.
  *   Award range: $30k - $100k.
  * Applicants will be notified of decisions by January 14, 2022; funds will be disbursed February 2022.
  * Projects shall be completed, and findings summarized in a draft manuscript no later than December 31, 2022.

2.     Ongoing or planned studies

Throughout the pandemic, academic researchers have shared study findings and insights with the CDPH leadership to help inform policy decisions. UC-CDPH Consortium leadership are interested in a brief summary of ongoing studies or analyses that relate to the CDPH COVID-19 priority science questions, even if you are not applying for funding support. Please complete THIS FORM<https://ucsf.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9oYlOI2MCMhapmu>.

Additionally, if you have designed a study that addresses a CDPH priority science area but requires resources exceeding the current call for proposal, please tell us so we can contact you if funding becomes available in the future by completing THIS FORM<https://ucsf.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_55vT8yc2hoXMA8C>.

Please email hilary.spindler at ucsf.edu<mailto:hilary.spindler at ucsf.edu> and Sandra.huang at cdph.gov<mailto:Sandra.huang at cdph.gov> if you have any questions.

Thank you,

UC-CDPH Covid Modeling Consortium
Research Priorities Governance Committee
