1.    Summer Salary Compensation, NIH, 7/1 Process Guidelines -  Sara Umali

Sara Umali from Academic Personnel spoke about the Summer Salary Compensation Guidelines that can be found on the Academic Personnel website.   She stressed that summer salary is not subject to the furlough reduction. Sara also presented the 2010 NIH Salary Cap Guidelines, which can be viewed at the following link:

2.    Summer Session - Roberta Nardico

Roberta  reminded the group not to separate employees nominated to work Summer Sessions but to add department D01083 as an alternate department on the EPER screen while maintaining the current home department.   This will assist Summer Sessions in not having to re-hire these employees.   Summer Sessions requested  departments ensure that any foreign instructors be eligible to work through the summer and that work permits be current through September 2010.  A new appointment and distribution will be added by Summer Session and the instructors will be paid on the MO. 3.    Federal HIRE Act - Gabe Nwandu

Gabe presented a new federal law called the HIRE Act, that was put in place March 18, 2010, where a qualified employer may claim a payroll tax exemption on their portion of the 6.2% OASDI (social security) tax for qualified employees hired between March 19, 2010 and December 31, 2010. 4.    Web New Hire Progress - Gabe Nwandu

Gabe gave the group an update on the Web New Hire Program.   The program will be in production within the next few weeks, but will require further programming before it will be available for PPS Users.  A demonstration is scheduled for the June PPS Users Group meeting on June 9th.

 

5.    RX TX Wage Implementation - Roberta Nardico

Roberta notified the group that an $1000 lump sum payment is scheduled to be paid on the July 30th, 2010 pay date.   A program will be run by UCOP to implement this payment.   As information is available, it is will shared through PPS News.

 

6.    WOS Appointments - Roberta Nardico

Departments were asked to clean up their data by changing all WOS appointments to Appointment 90 and Distribution 91.   Some of the data pulled from HRDW showed WOS appointments and distributions with percentages and dollar amounts.   This will also need to be cleaned up.   A listing of the WOS appointments by department has been posted on the Payroll website.

7.    iReport - Gabe Nwandu

Gabe gave a small demonstration of the Payroll related reports residing on the iReport application.  He advised PPS Users that all reports previously distributed by the payroll department could be accessed through iReport.   This includes the Payroll Check Distribution Report so that departments can verify that they have all their paper checks and earnings statements for each pay period.
