Subject: 2004-05 Incentive and Development Program Update--SX Unit

Good Afternoon All,

We have received several questions regarding the proposed implementation
schedule for the 2005-06 Merit Program for Non-Exclusively Represented
Staff. The proposed schedule is as follows:

o Human Resources will be sending the merit call, guidelines and
spreadsheets to the organizational units on September 15;

o Completed spreadsheets will need to be returned to the Executive
Vice Chancellor Office by September 30.

We are modifying the merit spreadsheets to include a section on performance
appraisals (confirmation that a performance appraisal was completed, the
date of the appraisal, and the rating).

In addition to this merit program, there are several other October 1 salary
actions:

1) Police Officers: 2% range adjustment (step based)

2) Police Sergeants: 2% range adjustment and merit (step based)

3) SX Unit: minimums below $9.00/hr increased to $9.00/hr; 3%
across-the-board increase, and an additional 1% across-the-board for
Custodians

4) Skilled Crafts Unit: merit program (step based)

We have also received several questions regarding the eligibility of SX Unit
employees for the 2004-05 Incentive and Development Program. As mentioned
in an earlier email, Service Unit employees were eligible to participate in
the 2004-05 program. In regard to 2005-06 program, the award program
funding will be used to fund the recent signing bonus. If any department
has been holding 2004-05 awards, they should be processed at this time.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Marilyn
