Subject: [99_Nounit] 2005-06 salary program

August 29, 2005

TO:  ALL NON-EXCLUSIVELY REPRESENTED STAFF

Thanks to the efforts of President Dynes, members of the Board of Regents
and many others throughout the UC community this past year, state leaders
adopted a new state budget that reflects the critical importance of
continued state funding for UC salaries. Therefore, we are pleased to share
with you the proposed salary program for the next fiscal year for policy
covered (unrepresented) staff employees (salaries for represented employees
are governed by collective bargaining agreements).

Elements of the 2005-06 systemwide salary program are as follows:

*	A merit funding pool of 3.5 percent for policy covered staff
employees in open salary ranges, effective October 1;
*	Funding to address significant individual market parity and equity
issues.

Elements of our local salary program include:

*	A 3.5% salary adjustment to the PSS and MSP salary grade structures,
effective October 1.

*	A 2.0% range adjustment to step-based salary structures, i.e.,
Police Sergeants and Police Trainees, effective October 1.

*	A merit funding of 1.5% for step-based staff employees, i.e., Police
Sergeants, effective October 1.

Should you have any questions about the proposed salary plan for 2005-06,
please contact Marilyn Voce at marilyn.voce at ucr.edu, no later than September
28, 2005.

Lastly, we know that the repeated budget cuts of the last several years have
created many challenges, and we thank you for your continued dedication,
service and contributions to the University.

Sincerely,

Ashley R. Panthera

Assistant Vice Chancellor, Human Resources
