To: PPS Preparers,

Please make sure you reduce the time for employees who participated in the
strike on April 14, 2005. Career staff employees who were absent for that
day should be paid 0.9524 (160hrs divided by 168 hours).

Subject: [Supervisor] Docking of Pay for unapproved absence on April 14,
2005
Importance: High

April 18, 2005

To: Department Heads/Managers, Supervisors and MSOs

As you will recall, in a scotmail and a Q&A sent to all employees on April
11, 2005, the University stated that no University employee will be
compensated for work that is not performed, unless that employee is on
previously approved leave. The University will not pay for services that
are not rendered; and due to the unusual circumstances of the strike,
medical verification of absences due to illness on April 14, 2005 will be
required.

It will be the department's responsibility to input the pay docking of any
employees for strike-related absence on April 14 in PPS. Such payroll
transaction must be completed by no later than the end of business on
Monday, April 25, which is payroll cut off for the April 2004 pay period.

If you have any questions regarding the appropriateness of pay docking for
specific employees, please contact Tony Giorgio (ext. 2-1414, email address
tony.giorgio at ucr.edu) or Jadie Lee (ext. 2-3196, email address
jadie.lee at ucr.edu). Questions regarding payroll processes/procedures should
be directed to the Payroll Office at extension 2-3307.
