Hello all,
The Department of Political Science will be hosting Professor Claire Adida
(Stanford University) on *Monday, April 20th*. Professor Adida is Senior
Fellow at FSI (CDDRL), Professor (by courtesy) of Political Science, and
faculty co-director at the Immigration Policy Lab at Stanford University.
Professor Adida uses quantitative and field methods to investigate how
countries manage new and existing forms of diversity, what exacerbates or
alleviates outgroup prejudice and discrimination, and how vulnerable groups
navigate discriminatory environments.
Professor Adida will be presenting her project, “Overcoming Barriers to
Women’s Political Participation: Evidence from Nigeria.” The talk will take
place from *12:10 PM–1:20 PM* in *INTS 1113*. Please see the attached flyer
for additional details.
The department will also host a lunch with the speaker at the Stable for
3–4 graduate students at 1:30PM following the talk. Meeting with visiting
scholars is a valuable opportunity for graduate students, especially those
who are on or preparing for the job market. These conversations can help
you build professional networks, learn about different departments and
hiring expectations, and receive informal advice about navigating the
profession.
*If you would like to attend, please reply to this email by 5:00pm on
Tuesday, April 14th.*
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or Professor
Carreras (carreras at ucr.edu).
Best,
Candice Jenkins
