[Poscgrad] Some GSA Updates

Hi All,

I hope everyone is having a good, sun-filled quarter. It's been a while
since I've sent out some updates for GSA. A couple things that might be
useful to know.

1) We will be hosting a "Coffee with the Department Leadership" on May 13th
at 1:00pm. I will send out an update closer to the event with the room it
will be in, but make sure to mark your calendars.

2) Our wonderful GSA rep., Greg Hutchins, has a couple things of note:

First, Grad Success has a Padlet (which is a brand new tech to me), but it
has a listing of all their upcoming events and is a great resource for
anyone interested in their programming. It can be found here:

Second, the UC-wide graduate council sent out a mentorship survey for
graduate students that they are planning to take to UCOP. If you want to

3) Donald has an update from the union regarding iEvals and possible
retaliation. Here's his message below:


"Anyone who received low scores on their iEvals probably received a
remediation letter/email explaining what the TA needs to do to improve. The
union is working on getting these letters rescinded since they are a form
of discipline. To credit our claim, however, we need people to share their
experiences. If this applies to you, then you can reach out to me <
dzara016 at ucr.edu> or Heeba Hartit <hhart005 at ucr.edu> to help the union's
claim."


If this sounds like a labor problem you have dealt with, feel free to reach
out to him or Heeba.

4) Lastly, as it is Spring quarter it is almost time for GSA elections. We
hope to run them before the summer, so please think about running. More
info will come in the coming weeks.
