[Office-of-research] Clarification Regarding Suspension of State Contracts

PLEASE DISSEMINATE THIS MESSAGE BROADLY IN YOUR UNIT TO PRINCIPAL
INVESTIGATORS OF STATE CONTRACTS

 

It is very important to note that the Governor's executive order does not
automatically suspend all of our State contracts.  Each State agency must
issue a suspension letter to effect a contract suspension.  Thus, the only
State contracts that have been suspended are those for which we have
received a suspension letter.  As of the close of business yesterday (August
6), UCR had received eighteen suspension letters from a variety of State
Agencies and we anticipate receiving more today.

 

Immediately upon the receipt of a suspension letter, the Office of Research
is forwarding the letter via e-mail to the Principal Investigator and
department administrator for the suspended contract.  We are also processing
a Notice of Award through PAMIS for each suspension letter that is received.
In the event that a suspension letter is sent to a PI or department, please
immediately forward the letter to Contract and Grant Officer
<http://or.ucr.edu/home/Staff.aspx?t=3>  assigned to your unit.  It is
imperative that the Office of Research record the date and time that a
letter is officially received, as we serve as the campus office of record
for all sponsored awards and related award documents.  The accurate
recording of this information may aid UCR in recovering costs from the State
for the period of July 31 through the date that each letter is received.

 

The Office of Research is in the process of compiling a list of all State
contracts that have been suspended.  This list will be made available in the
next two working days.  Once it is available, I will send another message to
this listserv to provide notice of where to access the list.
