954045 SOM ED II Construction Alert #26

Please be advised that the following activities will be occurring from 6:00AM to 5:00PM on the School of Medicine Education Building II Site (SOM ED II) and adjacent areas during the week of December 13th through December 18th. The activities will occur within the areas identified in the attached exhibits and as shown in the map below.

SOM ED I Existing Electrical Yard (South):
Ø  No activities scheduled for the SOM ED I Yard.
Ø  Pedestrian access to surrounding buildings will remain open.
Ø  Activities and access to loading docks will not be affected.
Ø  Anticipated disturbances: Low level construction noise contained to SOM EDI Electrical Yard.
Ø  Please be advised that the accessible parking stalls on the south side of the lot will be unavailable due to the backup generator and associated equipment (please see attached exhibit).

West Courtyard:
Ø  Continue FRP of flatwork in courtyard. (Equipment: Concrete trucks, forklift for washout, various hand tools).
Ø  Anticipated disturbances: Medium level construction noise contained to West Courtyard. High level during intermittent vibration activities.
Ø  Please be advised that the southern building entrances to Webber and Boyce Hall will be temporarily closed for the duration of the early construction phase of work which is anticipated between mid-July and November. Appropriate signage will be provided inside the buildings to alert the occupants.
Ø  Please be advised the North entrances of Keen Hall and South-West entrance of Boyce Hall will be temporarily closed from 12/27/21 to 12/31/21, to accommodate the removal and replacement of the concrete surfaces directly adjacent. Please see attached exhibit for additional details.

New Generator Yard:
Ø  Continue reassembling the generator and pulling feeders (Equipment: Delivery trucks, various hand and power tools).
Ø  Pedestrian access to the north doors of Headhouses #7-10 will remain open.
Ø  Anticipated disturbances: Medium level construction noise contained to surrounding area.
Ø  Please be advised that access to Greenhouse #6 and its associated Headhouse is no longer available.
Ø  Please be advised the proposed electrical power service interruptions anticipated for December 11th and 13th are postponed to a future date to be determined. Additional information for critical research equipment required to have backup power at Boyce, Webber Hall and SOM ED is being collected. See attached notifications from FS regarding the postponed electrical shutdowns.

Headhouse 7
Ø  Continue utility install inside Headhouse 7 (Equipment: Ladders, power tools, various hand tools).
Ø  Anticipated disturbances: Medium level construction noise contained to surrounding area.
Ø  Please be advised that access to Greenhouse #6 and its associated Headhouse is no longer available.

Parking Lot 11
Ø  Continue material deliveries through Lot 11 down to the West courtyard (Equipment: Delivery truck).
Ø  Anticipated disturbances: Medium level construction noise contained to surrounding area.
Ø  Please be advised there will be intermittent single lane closure of the south lane of Eucalyptus to allow for the electrical scope of work to be performed in Vault V10.

Building Site:
Ø  Continue installation of shoring piles (Equipment: Shoring drilling rig, delivery trucks, concrete trucks, skid steer, forklift, various hand tools).
Ø  Continue export of soil (Equipment: Excavator, dozer, skip loader, haul trucks).
Ø  Begin installation of k-rails for future sound wall at SOM ED and Boyce Hall perimeter (Equipment: trucks, lifts, various hand power tools).
Ø  Pedestrian access to the north doors of Headhouses #7-10 will remain open.
Ø  Anticipated disturbances: Medium level construction noise. Intermittent loud level construction noise anticipated at various times due to the shoring drilling rig.
Ø  Please be advised that access to Parking Lot 40 & the Modular Building is no longer available.

Construction Trailer Area at Parking Lot 10:
Ø  Continue material deliveries to trailer lot (Equipment: Delivery truck).
Ø  Anticipated disturbances: Low level construction noise at Lot 10.
Ø  Please be advised that the eastern most row of parking spots in Lot 10 will be no longer available for the duration of the SOM ED II project (summer 2023), as this will be impacted by the construction trailers area.

Parking Lot 41 Laydown Area:
Ø  Material deliveries (Equipment: Delivery trucks, and various hand tools).
Ø  Pedestrian access to GH/HH #11-14 and surrounding buildings will remain open.
Ø  Activities and access to loading docks will not be affected.
Ø  Anticipated disturbances: Low level construction noise at Lot 41.

Items listed in red: Please note that this activity may potentially disrupt the pedestrian and/or vehicular pathways and the occupants in adjacent buildings.

Continuous noises on site: Delivery trucks, construction equipment (back-up alarms), jackhammers, saws, screw guns, and hammers.
