Subject: RE: Time & Attendance System for GSRS
To: Wei Vivian Li <weil at ucr.edu>, STAT Admin <statadmin at ucr.edu>

*On 10/17/2023, students received an email from Graddead at ucr.edu
<Graddead at ucr.edu> (together with the attachment): *

 *Good Morning,*

*This guidance is intended for Graduate Student Employees, which includes
all Academic Student Employees (ASEs) and Graduate Student Researchers
(GSRs) employed at UCR. You are now required to report time off in the UCR
Time and Attendance Reporting System (TARS). The purpose of implementing
TARS is to report time off / leave taken from employment, and you will not
record hours worked in TARS. Attached to this communication is a TARS Job
Aid to assist you with understanding the process to submit monthly
timesheets for approval by your faculty supervisor. *

*Please note that you are required to submit a timesheet in TARS each
month, including months when you do not take any time off. Failure to
accurately report time off / leave in TARS by the payroll deadline
<https://accounting.ucr.edu/payroll-coordination/time-and-attendance-options>
could
result in an overpayment.*

   - *For TARS questions or technical issues related your timesheet, please
   contact Timesheetfeedback at ucr.edu <Timesheetfeedback at ucr.edu>. *
   - *For other related concerns, please contact your supervisor and refer
to the Academic Personnel Policy (APM
   <https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/academic-personnel-policy/benefits-and-privileges/index.html>)
or
   collective bargaining agreements for ASE
   <https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/labor/bargaining-units/bx/contract.html>s
   and GSR
   <https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/labor/bargaining-units/br/contract.html>s.*

*Sincerely,*

*Campus administration*

*The supervisor listed under payroll for the students who are employed as
TA or GSR is the one who will need to approve these timesheets (students
under fellowships can disregard the timesheet email). Students will need to
submit the timesheet as a blank form with no selections if they did not
take any leave (time off), but if they took a leave, they would select the
day they took a day off*.

Best,

Marlene Garcia
