Hello everyone,

Below is part of an email I received yesterday from William Tarpei. William
retired from the United Nations, and for the last several years has been
keen on getting college students involved in GIS projects that address the
UN's Sustainable Development Goals <http://sdgs.un.org/goals>.

As I prepare to update my ARCGIS license in 2026, as I work on updating
using GIS all maps included in my 1985 MPA thesis project paper - AFRICAN
REFUGEE PROBLEMS IN THE 1980s, I would like to find at least one student
collaborator who might already be seeking out a project for 2026 UC GIS
Week. It would be great if that person was a current UCR student.
Could you recommend who I might contact on the UCR campus to further
discuss?

If you are a student, or know of a student/students, who might be
interested in this project, please let me know so we can make the
connection to William.

Thank you,

*Janet Reyes*
