Subject: Fall 2021 GIS and Data Workshops from IGIS

Hi all. FYI below is our Fall GIS workshop schedule. Please feel free to share with your circles. Cheers, Andy

The UCANR Informatics and GIS Statewide Program (IGIS<http://igis.ucanr.edu/>) is pleased to share our 2021 fall line-up of GIS and data workshops. All workshops are online and free (with the exception of drone flight instruction). Additional information and registration links can be found on the IGIS Training page<http://igis.ucanr.edu/Training/>. Additionally, all workshop alumni and UC ANR employees are eligible to sign-up for IGIS Office Hours<http://igis.ucanr.edu/Office_Hours/> for a wide range of consultations on geospatial and data topics. Hope to see you there!

Working with Cal-Adapt Climate Data in R
October 1, 2021 • 10:00 - 11:30am • online • free

Cal-Adapt<https://cal-adapt.org/> is California's official go-to source for downscaled climate data. Most people interact with Cal-Adapt through the website, but Cal-Adapt also features an API which can be used to query and download data through programming languages. This hands-on workshop will teach you how to work with climate data using caladaptR<https://ucanr-igis.github.io/caladaptr/>, a R package developed by IGIS which streamlines the process of importing data via the Cal-Adapt API.

Requirements: No experience with climate data necessary. To complete the hands-on exercises, some basic R familiarity is expected. Details and registration<http://igis.ucanr.edu/Training/CaladaptROct21/>. This workshop will be repeated in late 2021 or early 2022.

Introduction to ArcGIS Online
October 1, 2021 • 1:00 - 4:00pm • online • free

ArcGIS Online<https://www.arcgis.com/index.html> is the online component of the ESRI geospatial ecosystem, and the foundation for web mapping, story maps, and mobile data collection. This workshop will provide an overview of ArcGIS Online and teach participants how to create a web map. This workshop also serves as a prerequisite for the Story Maps and Field Maps workshops below, and is recommended for ArcGIS Pro.

Requirements: No experience required. Participants must have an ArcGIS Online account set up prior to the workshop (free for all UCANR employees, temporary accounts available for others). Details and registration<http://igis.ucanr.edu/Training/IntroductiontoArcGISOnlineSep2021/>.

Introduction to ArcGIS Story Maps
October 8, 2021 • 1:00 - 4:00pm • online • free

Story Maps for ArcGIS<https://storymaps.arcgis.com/> is a powerful and popular platform for creating websites that convey compelling narratives through text, media, and maps. Story Maps are increasingly used for online extension, program reporting, and presentations. This workshop will get you started and give you the tools to create your own Story Maps.

Requirements: Participants must have an ArcGIS Online account set up prior to the workshop (free for all UCANR employees, temporary accounts available for others). The Intro to AGOL workshop, or equivalent background, is a prerequisite for this workshop. Details and registration<http://igis.ucanr.edu/Training/IntroStoryMapsOct2021/>.

DroneCamp 2021 In-person Flight Instruction

ArcGIS Pro<https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcgis-pro/overview> is ESRI’s powerhouse desktop application for all things GIS. It can do anything from basic cartography to advanced geospatial modeling. This introduction will get you started creating maps with local and online GIS data.

Requirements: Participants must have ArcGIS Pro installed on their personal computer prior to the workshop. ArcGIS Pro is for Windows only. Licenses are free for all UCANR employees, and temporary accounts available for others. No experience needed, but the ArcGIS Online workshop or equivalent experience is strongly encouraged. This workshop serves as a prerequisite for the Cartography with ArcGIS Pro workshop (below). Details and registration<http://igis.ucanr.edu/Training/IntroArcGISProOct2021/>.

Introduction ArcGIS Field Maps
November 5, 2021 • 1:00 - 4:00pm • online • free

ArcGIS Field Maps<https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcgis-field-maps/overview> is ESRI’s most recent and most powerful platform for mobile data collection.
