Michael-Jaime Becerra and Alex Espinoza both began their first books while undergrads in Creative Writing; our panel is The New Chicanismo, and I'm really proud that we accomplished it here in Riverside.  I heard that yesterday, Mayor Villaraigosa held up Alex's novel Still Water Saints on TV and praised him as an LA writer to be proud of!  (The book's set in a fictional Colton, but hey, it was cool.)
