RCC's Production of The Laramie Project to be picketed by national
organization.

The Riverside Community College Theatre Department has chosen to
commemorate the 10 year anniversary of Matthew Shepard's beating and
murder with a production of The Laramie Project, a play that chronicles
the attack and its impact on the citizens of Laramie, Wyoming. This
deeply moving play explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the
heights of compassion of which we are capable.

It is therefore ironic that the Westboro Baptist Church, a national
organization that engages in hate speech, has announced that it plans to
picket our production, a show that espouses tolerance and understanding.
The group is schedule to protest on campus this evening, November 20th.
At this point, we are not certain if they will show up or not. However,
the RCC Police Department has taken great care to ensure that the
production will go on as scheduled and that our patrons and other classes
will not be adversely affected.

The Theatre Department hopes that you will come and support this important
production and send a clear message to the Westboro Baptist Church that
HATE is not a Riverside value.

THE LARAMIE PROJECT will be presented November 20, 21 and 22 at 8pm and
November 22 and 23 at 2pm in Singletary Hall on the RCC campus. Tickets
and information are available at the Landis Box Office or by calling
951-222-8100.
