RCC's Production of The Laramie Project to be picketed by national<br>organization.<br><br><br><br>The Riverside Community College Theatre Department has chosen to<br>commemorate the 10 year anniversary of Matthew Shepard's beating and<br>
murder with a production of The Laramie Project, a play that chronicles<br>the attack and its impact on the citizens of Laramie, Wyoming. This<br>deeply moving play explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the<br>
heights of compassion of which we are capable.<br><br><br><br>It is therefore ironic that the Westboro Baptist Church, a national<br>organization that engages in hate speech, has announced that it plans to<br>picket our production, a show that espouses tolerance and understanding. <br>
The group is schedule to protest on campus this evening, November 20th. <br>At this point, we are not certain if they will show up or not. However,<br>the RCC Police Department has taken great care to ensure that the<br>
production will go on as scheduled and that our patrons and other classes<br>will not be adversely affected.<br><br><br><br>The Theatre Department hopes that you will come and support this important<br>production and send a clear message to the Westboro Baptist Church that<br>
HATE is not a Riverside value.<br><br><br><br><br><br>THE LARAMIE PROJECT will be presented November 20, 21 and 22 at 8pm and<br>November 22 and 23 at 2pm in Singletary Hall on the RCC campus. Tickets<br>and information are available at the Landis Box Office or by calling<br>
