Fiction Short Story
Contest
The University of California, Riverside announces
the inception of the First
Annual Science Fiction Short Story Contest. Winners
will be announced at the
Eaton Conference, University of California,
Riverside, May 17, 2008.
Entries will be judged by author Howard V. Hendrix,
the author of thirty
published science fiction short stories and
novelettes, six novels and scholarly
nonfiction in science fiction studies. For more

This competition is open to all full-time
undergraduate and graduate students
enrolled in the UC system.
First prize: $500
Second prize: $250
Guidelines:
1. Subject: Stories must engage directly with the
topic of MARS and be
recognizable as Science Fiction
2. Length: Stories must not exceed 6000 words.
3. Entries must be double-spaced using 12-pt type of
either Arial or Times New
Roman font. Use one side of the paper only.
4. Deadline: Submissions must be postmarked February
15, 2008.
