The University of California, Riverside announces the inception of the First

Annual Science Fiction Short Story Contest. Winners will be announced at the
<br>
Eaton Conference, University of California, Riverside, May 17, 2008.
<br>
<br>
Entries will be judged by author Howard V. Hendrix, the author of thirty
<br>
published science fiction short stories and novelettes, six novels and scholarly
<br>

This competition is open to all full-time undergraduate and graduate students

enrolled in the UC system.
<br>
<br>
First prize: $500
<br>
Second prize: $250
<br>
<br>
Guidelines:
<br>
<br>
1. Subject: Stories must engage directly with the topic of MARS and be
<br>
recognizable as Science Fiction
<br>
<br>
2. Length: Stories must not exceed 6000 words.
<br>
<br>
3. Entries must be double-spaced using 12-pt type of either Arial or Times New
<br>
Roman font. Use one side of the paper only.
<br>
<br>
4. Deadline: Submissions must be postmarked February 15, 2008.
<br>
<br>
