Poets Charles Harper Webb and Tony Barnstone will be reading in Riverside on
Wednesday, November 15, at 7 p.m.  The reading will take place at the
Universalist Unitarian Church, 3657 Lemon St. in downtown Riverside (next to
the Riverside Public Library).  ! The event is supported by the Riverside
School for the Arts, Poets & Writers, and the Associated Students of
Riverside City College.*  For those who are interested, a book signing will
follow the reading.  

 

Charles Harper Webb's poems have appeared in Paris Review, American Poetry
Review, the Best American Poetry and Pushcart Prize series, and elsewhere.
Among his six collections of poetry, Reading the Water won the 1997 Samuel
French Morse Poetry Prize and the 1998 Kate Tufts Discovery Award, and Liver
won the 1999 Felix Pollak Prize.  Webb's most recent collection, Amplified
Dog, won the Benjamin Saltman Prize.  His o! ther prizes include the Academy
of American Poets prize, Whiting Writer's Award, and a fellowship from the
Guggenheim Foundation. A professional rock singer/guitarist for 15 years,
Charles Webb is currently professor of English at California State
University, Long Beach, as well as a licensed psychotherapist, specializing
in work with c! reative artists.

Tony Barnstone's poetry, translations, essays on poetics, and fiction have
appeared in dozens of American literary journals, from American Poetry
Review to Agni.  His books include
