[CITL] FW: vhost service: Migration Update

Dear CITL members,

Please see below for an update which was sent to the Campus Web Advisory Group including Departmental Site Factory Managers regarding the vhost Service Migration (as part of Project Genesis). Additionally, please note, we are continuing to engage with specific site owners/department leads who have raised concerns regarding a few highly impactful sites. Additional information will be provided to those individuals (with a copy to relevant CITL members) later this week.

Hi All,

As a follow up to the update sent on 8/3/21, this email is to provide additional vhost service cutover/migration details. Thank you to those who have continued to test, remediate, and reach out for website support as needed.

vhost Service Cutover Timeline and Expectations

8/30/21 @ 8:00 AM

Site Owners and SFMs should not make any changes or edits to -staging or production sites at any point during this day.

8/30/21 @ 12:00 PM

All requests for a final website sync (from -staging to production) will be deployed by noon on 8/30. [Requests must be submitted by 8/29/21 EOB via Request a Systems Service<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal/?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=1ee50eb10f5a0300138942bce1050e5f>.]

The ITS Technical Team will kick off the technical processes to run all necessary scripts, DNS changes, etc. Monitor TechAlerts<https://techalerts.ucr.edu/> for ongoing status.
During the change window, websites may be intermittently unavailable due to the ongoing maintenance of the service.

Site Owners and SFMs can navigate to production URLs for testing and validation of functionality. Should any issues be encountered, please submit an incident via ServiceLink<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal/?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=d10c39ee0f348300138942bce1050e8b>; Category: Software & Applications, Subcategory: Campus Websites.

For those who are still in the process of testing, please continue to log any issues on the UAT Issue Tracking Document<https://o365ucr.sharepoint.com/:x:/t/DrupalWebAdvisoryGroup/ER31UR3K7aJAsKaiqSMSm_oBMiEFnHFQcuWhTN3odK_AxA?e=qjh2P8> so that our team can investigate, troubleshoot, and assist where possible. A few reminders:

  *   Any content changes made to the current production site must be replicated in the staging environment as the staging environment will become the new production instance during go-live

     *   Clients who have tested their staging site can opt to cutover to the AWS environment early, ahead of the 8/30 go-live. To do this, please Request a Systems Service<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal/?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=1ee50eb10f5a0300138942bce1050e5f> and indicate your site(s) URL and preferred date of cutover.
