EN DIÁLOGO SERIES|A PREVIEW OF THE CHEECH

A series of dialogues with Chicano artists to support The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum

Dear Colleagues,

We are hosting a dialogue series which includes monthly sessions hosted on Zoom from October 2020 through January 2021. Our first dialogue kicked-off on October 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Cheech Marin himself and artists Einar and Jamex De La Torre whose artwork form part of Cheech's collection and their work will be the inaugural temporary exhibition at The Cheech, an exhibition organized with the Smithsonian Latino Center and curated by Selene Preciado. Additional events in this virtual series include Lalo Alcaraz in conversation with Gustavo Arellano on November 19, Cheech Marin with Carlos Santana on December 17, and the LA Originals-Estevan Oriol and Mister Cartoon-on January 21, 2021; all events are 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

There is a fee ($25) associated with attending each session since this series serves as part of our fundraising efforts. We believe student engagement is critical and would like to offer your respective campus 12 complimentary slots for student participation in our next En Diálogo with Lalo Alcaraz (https://laloalcaraz.com/) and Gustavo Arellano (https://www.gustavoarellano.org/) on Nov. 19 from 6-8pm.

Please have interested students fill out the google form by 12pm November 17. Once we register them on the backend they will receive the zoom link one day before the event. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum will transform Riverside's 1964 downtown library building into a world-wide center for Chicano art and culture. The Cheech will bring thousands of visitors to Riverside and the Inland Southern California region, and will have a significant impact on the local economy. Importantly, The Cheech will provide a place for all to see, study, and discuss the various intersections of Chicano art, a movement that transcends worlds, cultures, and experiences.
