Our colleagues in the Community Inclusion & Partnerships team (CDPH) is recruiting 10-15 representatives of community-based organizations to form a Black Health Equity Advisory Group (BHEAG). The BHEAG will play a crucial role in supporting the CDPH by functioning as a strategic partner, recommending departmental policy, practice, and program changes to increase opportunities for Black Californians to live their healthiest lives. Not able to join the BHEAG? Join the Selection Committee!

We are currently seeking up to 5 volunteers from the community to join the BHEAG Selection Committee responsible for reviewing applications and selecting qualified individuals for the advisory group. Please note that individuals serving on the selection committee cannot be applicants.

To serve on the selection committee, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  *   Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the field of health equity, with a focus on addressing disparities within the Black community.
  *   Demonstrated understanding of the role that policy, systems, or environmental approaches play in improving the structures in which we work, live and play.
  *   Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity, with an understanding of the importance of diverse perspectives in decision making.
  *   Commitment to maintain confidentiality and respecting the privacy of applicants throughout the selection process.
  *   Availability to participate in the review period (1/26/24 – 2/9/24)
  *   Availability to participate in the Selection Committee meeting on Wednesday, February 14 from 10 a.m. to noon.
