We placed in SECOND PLACE for MOST FUNDS RAISED!

An astounding “$27,320 was raised for the National Society of Black Engineers at UC Riverside!”
"Alumni giving back! At least 50% of donors [to NSBE in the Match Challenge] are former alumni,” said Roderick Smith, director of student affairs. “I work with NSBE members and on their behalf to connect with alumni for financial and programmatic support." (From UCR BCOE)

What was the match challenge?
“Match Challenge is a crucial fundraising technique for BCOE-recognized student organizations,” said Fernanda Rojas, professional development coordinator at BCOE. “The funds help expand students’ professional growth and allow them to gain hands-on experience by participating in projects and competitions, such as the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ Chem-E car and Engineers Without Borders’ work to build sustainable solutions for developing nations.”

Primary matching donors this year included Triad Magnetics, Josh Wong, Honglin Liu and Quynh Nguyen”. -UCR BCOE

The National Society of Black engineers at UCR (NSBE @ UCR), would like to give a formal thank you to those who contributed to our match challenge back in October. Through your efforts, we were able to raise just over $20,000. With these funds we will be able to carry out or mission statement, to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.
Again, thank you so much for helping us reach our goal!

Students gathered to learn and explore the fascinating mechanics of legos and engineering. Their creative minds worked together to problem solve and create awesome projects.

“Teams of up to 10 students program a Lego-based robot to perform up to 15 missions on a field approximately half the size of a ping-pong table. In addition to building the robot, teams prepare a presentation on the design choices they made, and on a related “innovation project”: this year, the topic is the relationship between technology and public communication.”
