[BFASA] Farewell Message for Shonté Thomas

Colleagues,

It is with mixed emotions that I announce the resignation of Dean ShontéThomas, (Associate Dean of Students). Her last day on-campus will be Friday July 14, 2023.  Dean Thomas will be moving on to an exciting professional opportunity as the Assistant Vice Provost for Inclusion and Community and Executive Director of Equity, Community, and Leadership at Stanford University!  We are proud of the work Shonté has accomplished in her three years of service to the UCR community!

A few highlights of her time at UCR include; leading all nine identity centers with remarkable ability and detail, Shonté has worked to support free speech for students, strategically served on an array of committees across campus amplifying the voice of her areas, led the Black Student Experience Workgroup that led to the creation of a university Black Student Success Coordinator, strengthened the working relationship with her colleagues in Student Life and connected with countless students!

Shonté has collaborated with various campus partners at all levels of the institution on an array of initiatives and projects. Shonté’s  unwavering leadership has provided the identity centers and the Dean of Students areas with the momentum to move forward through a myriad of transitions and initiatives. I will work with Shonté on a smooth transition and leadership plan during this transition.

Join us for an informal time to gather and wish Shonté well on her next professional adventure on Friday July 14, 2023, at 11:30am at the Career Center Conference Room.
