Semana de la Mujer 2023 – February 18 – 24, 2023
“HERSTORY is healing, strength, and an act of resistance. As we unlearn the things that no longer serve us, lagrimas (tears) are what help us release and nourish. Seguiremos floreciendo y brotando con alegría (We will continue to bloom with joy)”

Chicano Student Programs invites you to the annual Semana de la Mujer series, February 18th – 24th. This week-long program highlights the achievements of Chicana/Latinas. Each of the events pays tribute to the everyday soldadoras who stand up for their beliefs, participate as decision-makers and continue to shape our future. The theme for 2023 is “HERSTORY is healing, strength, and an act of resistance. As we unlearn the things that no longer serve us, lagrimas (tears) are what help us release and nourish. Seguiremos floreciendo y brotando con alegría (We will continue to bloom with joy).” The series of events include a conference, workshops, social gatherings, a poetry event, a month-long collective memory exhibit in the Tomás Rivera Library and the publication of a literary journal featuring the work of UCR students, staff, and alumni. The series is co-sponsored by the UCR Library, Women’s Resource Center, Mujeres Unidas, The Barn, and the Semana de la Mujer planning committee. Art is illustrated by UCR undergraduate student Veronica Sanchez.
