Destigmatizing Mental Health in our Community (3.7)

      Mental Health Allies is hosting a FREE event on campus in HUB 302 on Mental Health! The event will provide resources on mental health, free food, giveaways, and a guest speaker who will discuss factors impacting mental health and she will share skills to help with managing the condition. Attached is the flyer with the QR code to RSVP. Please share this wonderful event with your colleagues!

Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT) Grant
I am pleased to inform you that the Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT) Grant is now open for new student applications. Please review the eligibility criteria and share with students who are in need.

ECRT Eligibility Criteria

*       Must be a UCR student enrolled in the current term (Winter 2023)

*       Must be able to demonstrate an urgent financial need related to rent, utilities, groceries, Wi-Fi bill, or phone bill with supporting documentation.

o   ECRT is not meant to assist with tuition, car insurance, car payments, credit card bills, medical/dental bills, etc.*

*       Must have a FASFA or CA Dream Act on file with financial aid office and have unmet need (unless you are an international student).

Important Information:

*       Request for ECRT support is not guaranteed and cannot be reviewed until ALL supporting documentation is submitted.

*       NEW: Middle Class Scholarship may impact eligibility for ECRT grant

*       If awarded an ECRT grant, the grant will be applied to any balance on your student account first before any excess funds are refunded to you.

I would also like to highlight that the given the criteria set by CSAC for the Middle Class Scholarship, some students may not be eligible for additional aid (including ECRT) due to no room available in their financial aid budget. We are working closely with Financial Aid to minimize the impact this may have on students however we anticipate some students may not be able to adjust their budgets to make room to award any additional aid.

Housing Assistance
As many of you know, we have a few vacancies, one of which is our Housing Specialist who provides support to students who are experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. Currently we can assist with emergency housing through a referral from a faculty or staff member.

Please see the information below on how to refer a student:

  1.  Email referral to Basic Needs Coordinator, Vivian Gonzales- vivian.gonzalez at ucr.edu<mailto:vivian.gonzalez at ucr.edu>
     *   Please include Student Name, SID, and a brief description of the student situation.
  2.  BN Coordinator will outreach to student to schedule a housing intake meeting to determine eligibility
     *   Eligibility is determined by a variety of factors including current housing status, services already used and other resources accessible to students-including ECRT
