Jason Wohlmuth was a talented, enthusiastic, and adventurous UCR student. Amongst his favorite things to do were spending time with the ones he loved and using his predilection for humor to inspire smiles and laughter in those around him. Jason was selfless with his friendship, his positivity, and his service to others. Tragically, at age 21, he died from a combination of prescription medications and alcohol. Although other people were around him, no one intervened or called 911. The Jason Wohlmuth Award for Student Health & Wellness is a fund established by his parents, Drs. Joe and Cinna Wohlmuth, to build awareness, eliminate stigma, increase knowledge, and empower students with intervention skills to make a positive impact related to mental health and the misuse of alcohol and other drugs.
