Dear UCR Women's Faculty Association Colleagues and Allied Faculty,
We are writing to encourage you to RSVP as soon as possible for the upcoming Women's Faculty Association lunch meeting on December 2nd from 12pm-2pm. RSVP closes on 11/22 https://forms.gle/7Q9V1CuYJryiVEFSA
The WFA is an effective and necessary organization that advocates for real change and equity for our faculty. The Riverside campus has typically had the lowest percentage of women faculty of any campus in the UC system.
Over the last several years, the WFA has fostered a space for faculty to share concerns, identify priorities, and build networks and communities. We have successfully advocated for institutional actions and policy changes including:
* the revision of our outdated and biased Student Evaluation of Teaching Survey (now in process)
* increasing rigor in assessing faculty salary equity across gender (ongoing)
* the inclusion of completed chapters for books in progress (in book-based disciplines) for purposes of merit review
* the addition of a COVID-impacted watermark to student evaluations for courses taught during the pandemic.
At this meeting we are inviting your assessment of what remains pressing for our faculty. Please feel free to share this email with new faculty who may not yet be on our list. New members can subscribe here: https://lists.ucr.edu/mailman/listinfo/wfa
Sincerely,
The co-chairs and steering committee of the WFA*
*the WFA strives to be an inclusive organization with respect to gender identity
