Re: Stay Well Tips
Social distancing and facial coverings are encouraged and/or required when leaving our homes. We are often spending more time at home and cleaning is one of the best way to keep your family safe and healthy. It can help bring a sense of control and accomplishment during uncertainty.

Whether we were in a pandemic or not, virus and bacteria are on surfaces throughout our homes. It is easy to forget how many objects we come into contact daily as well as how many times to tend to touch our eyes, nose or mouth. To clean your home and help the people inside your home, follow these tips:

Clean first, then disinfect:
First remove any dirt and germs using soap and water. Although cleaning will reduce the numbers of germs on a surface, it does not kill them. Using safe chemicals<https://www.epa.gov/newsreleases/epa-releases-list-disinfectants-use-against-covid-19> to disinfect surface will do this job.

What surfaces should I clean and disinfect?
Cleaning and disinfecting these items at least once a day can kill germs in those contaminated areas. These include:
1. Cabinet and appliance handles
2. Countertops
3. Doorknobs
4. Hard-backed chairs
5. Light switches
6. Remote controls
7. Sinks and faucets
8. Tables
9. Toilets
Cleaning Laundry and Linens
If someone in your home is diagnosed with COVID-19 or any other illness, you should take extra care in washing that person's used linens and laundry.

1. When touching the laundry, wear disposable gloves and throw them away after each use. Then wash your hands. If you don't have gloves, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap or use hand sanitizer.

2. Although you can wash the sick family member's laundry with other laundry from your household, do not shake his or her laundry. This could spread the virus.

3. When laundering clothes and linens, follow the directions on clothing labels and detergent. Use the warmest temperatures recommended on labels, and dry thoroughly.

4. If you use a hamper for the sick person's laundry, be sure to clean and disinfect it regularly. You can also collect their laundry in a washable or disposable bag.
