Generator Microsoft Word 11 (filtered medium) What is the Student Conduct Ready Advisor Program?

Student Conduct Ready Advisor Program is new. The purpose of the program is to recruit and train members of the UCR community (any student, faculty, or staff member) to be a Student Conduct Advisor. A student who has been alleged to have violated a policy under the University of California Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations and Students, Revised May 17, 2002 has the right to have an advisor present with him/her during the conduct process. Students often would like to have an advisor but don't know who or how to ask. The advisor can be anyone of the student's choosing, not directly involved in the alleged incident.

We believe having advisors available who are more familiar with the student conduct and academic integrity processes will better serve the students and the UCR campus community. The time commitment for serving as advisor will vary depending on the complexities of the student's case. To serve as part of the Student Conduct Ready Advisor Program, individuals are asked to participate in a training session consisting of an overview of the student conduct and academic integrity processes, and resources available to students going through those processes. Upon completion of the training, individuals will have their name and contact information added to a referral list kept in Student Conduct & Academic Integrity Programs and made available to students requesting an advisor.

What is the time commitment?

90 minutes for the initial training. Conduct meetings and Committee Reviews can range from one hour to three hours, depending on the case. Additional time depends on how much consultation the student wish to do with you. Actual referrals to faculty/staff would be limited to periodic, depending on need.
