The Golden ARCHES (Advocating Responsible Choices through Health Education
and Support) Peer Health Education program and the CHAMPS/Life Skills
program are proud to announce the final speaker of their 2008-09 Educational
Speaker Series:
Wednesday, May 13th
7:00 PM
University Lecture Hall
Michael Feldman presents: "MuscleBound"
This multi-media, multi-disciplinary presentation explores the complicated
topic of body image and the pursuit of the "perfect body." It is a
combination of documentary film and theatrical performance that takes a
close and honest look at the influence and pressures created by the media,
the dietary supplement industry and steroids on our idea of what a body
"should" look like. Unlike many body image presentations, this program
focuses much of its attention on male body image, but also discusses the
pressures both men and women face in defining and pursuing what we want our
bodies to look like and how we feel about them.
This program is also part of UCR's Nutrition & Fitness Week campaign.
