Dear Colleagues,

I truly hope this e-mail finds you well rested and in good health after
the holiday break. 2007 was a significant year for all of us due to the
change in campus leadership. We were truly blessed with the appointment
of Dr. Grey as our Acting Chancellor as he has proven to be exactly
what our campus needs to steer us through this important transition.

2008 promises to be just as momentous as we anticipate the selection
and arrival of a new Chancellor. I am extremely confident that as we
commence with the New Year, the Division of Student Affairs will
continue to prosper due to the outstanding effort that each and every
one of you put forth in supporting our students, faculty and the campus
at large. We are truly fortunate to work with such a dedicated group of
individuals!

As you may know, the Division of Student Affairs held its annual
Directors' retreat this past December during which time we focused
attention on our mission and vision for the future. Further, we
developed some critical objectives that we will undertake over the
course of the next year. Our retreat was very productive and we are
looking forward to acting on our initiatives.

A common thread in all of our retreat discussions was the critical role
of Student Affairs staff in pursuing and achieving our goals. With that
in mind, our executive leadership team is planning a divisionwide
meeting for all staff to be held in February (the date has not been set
yet). The primary purpose of this meeting is to recognize your efforts
and provide you with an opportunity to network with your colleagues. We
will also spend some time reflecting on the vision for the campus and for
Student Affairs. We will be sending a detailed meeting announcement in the next
week or so.

In closing, I would like to express my personal appreciation to you for
your contributions throughout 2007 and wish you the best for 2008!

Sincerely,

Jim

James W. Sandoval
