We have an exciting announcement! For the first time, SOE Writing Support is collaborating with the Academic Resource Center to bring you a workshop on an area that many of us struggle with--reading. Reading is the first and arguably one of the most essential steps of the writing process. Without good reading strategies, writing becomes much more difficult. On Wednesday, October 27th at 3:00 P.M. we will present our Reading Best Practices workshop. This workshop covers effective pre-reading and active reading strategies to apply to your assigned Education articles. The workshop will help you to: identify different sections of an Education research article, build pre-reading/previewing skills, and develop helpful active reading strategies.

The Chicano Educational & Cultural Fund, Inc. (CECF) has established a scholarship program in partnership with Cardenas Supermarket to recognize the academic and community achievements of students at the University of California, Riverside. Each award will be in the amount of $300 awarded to continuing undergraduate and graduate students on the basis of academic excellence, financial need, and demonstrated service to the Chicano/Latino campus community.
