Navitus - Extended 30-day Supply Allowance for PPO Medicare Members

UCOP would like to remind PPO Medicare members that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' 90-day extended medication supply allowance made available for COVID pandemic relief is still in effect. This extension may be useful for Medicare PPO retirees and emeriti who need to transition to a covered formulary drug due to the change to Navitus but may have difficulty scheduling an appointment with their doctor before their 30-day supply runs out.

Need More Than a 30-day Supply of Medications Due to the New Formulary Change?
Members unable to see their provider before a prescription runs out and need an authorization for more than a 30-day transition supply of medications may contact Navitus (the new pharmacy benefit manager) to request a longer day supply. This request can be made by the member or by the member's pharmacy, additional copays will be applied. An email communication was sent from Anthem to Medicare plan members on February 9, 2022 titled, "What to Know Before Your Next Wellness Visit<https://view.messageinsite.com/?qs=751afaeaf0e008a76661c08fa81298b0a827fc27309104819730c94c9ede850b7aacdab87d50864a1eec6f9200f5512790ce291b1578db545969909a428e459a02b41c262fa2e80f>". This information has been shared with the Council of UC Emeriti Associations (CUCEA) and the Council of UC Retiree Associations (CUCRA) and has been posted in the following ucppoplans.com websites:
