COVID-19 – Response from UC Health Plans Updates

The Medical Plan Response to COVID 19 is a summary of the latest information on the waiver of cost-sharing for services related to COVID-19. The Medical Plan Response to COVID 19 summary can be viewed at: https://hr.ucr.edu/sites/g/files/rcwecm656/files/2021-11/medical-plan-response-to-covid19-11.19.21.pdf. The following is a sample of the report:

As shown, the types of testing and coverage are highlighted in yellow for each medical plan. The purpose of each test will determine whether or not cost-sharing is waived. See the footnotes for each plan for additional details.

Also, “Monoclonal Antibody Treatment” has been added to the Medicare Advantage plans (Kaiser Permanente Senior Advantage and UC Medicare Choice). The waiver of cost-sharing for both is through December 31, 2021.

All Plan Letter
Also included is the Department of Managed Health Care All Plan letter. The All Plan letter can be viewed at: https://hr.ucr.edu/sites/g/files/rcwecm656/files/2021-11/dmhc-all-plan-letter-on-continued-coverage-of-covid-19-diagnotic-testing6.07.21.pdf. The All Plan letter discusses the continued coverage of COVID-19 diagnostic testing and contains the following guidance:

·       Federal Guidance requiring coverage of COVID-19 testing

·       Guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides guidance as to when COVID-19 testing is for individualized assessment versus for public health surveillance purposes

·       Guidance from the California Department of Public Health and the California Department of Social Services
