UCOP received information from Health Net and wanted to reassure members with the UC Blue & Gold medical coverage that the provider will remain a UC plan option for the 2027 plan year.

An announcement was received noting Health Net will begin leaving the California commercial health plan market effective March 1, 2027. While coverage for most of Health Net's group health plans will end February 28, 2027, Health Net has confirmed that it will continue to administer its current UC contracts through December 31, 2027.

Health Net currently administers UC Blue & Gold HMO and four of UC's medical, dental and vision plans for postdoctoral scholars. While this announcement does not affect coverage for the 2027 plan year, it may generate questions from members enrolled in Health Net-administered UC plans.

UC continually evaluates health care options with careful attention to continuity of service, access to care, quality and affordability for members. UC will work carefully to support an orderly transition and minimize disruption for members.  UC will continue to coordinate with Systemwide Labor Relations and proceed in a manner consistent with applicable collective bargaining agreements and labor obligations as this work moves forward.
