UCOP has provided the following update regarding the Kaiser Permanente member enrollment issue.

Kaiser has confirmed that the processing of the Open Enrollment file received from UCPath on December 5, 2025, containing employee records was paused due to an internal protocol.  Unfortunately, UC was not notified when this occurred.  Kaiser's management team is actively reviewing their protocol and the oversight and will be providing UC with an action plan to prevent this from occurring in the future.

What to expect:


  *   Kaiser is expediting new enrollments included in the Open Enrollment file and expects to complete processing of those records by end of business today.


     *   Kaiser intends to process all other records (that is, changes to continuing enrollees) from the Open Enrollment file by Monday, January 12, 2026.


     *   Kaiser continues to process expedited enrollments sent individually by UCPath for individuals in need of urgent and immediate care or prescriptions.


  *   New members (employees and adult dependents) who have cell phone numbers on file will receive enrollment confirmations via text by Monday, January 12, 2026.


  *   New members may follow the link provided in their enrollment notification or visit https://kp.org/ to register and access their virtual ID card and Medical Record Number (MRN).


  *   Members may visit Kaiser - Member Resources<https://choose.kaiserpermanente.org/uc/members-page> for information on getting started as a Kaiser Permanente member.


  *   Once the Open Enrollment file processing is completed, the monthly full file for January will be loaded, capturing individuals who elected Kaiser after Open Enrollment closed, for example, new hires in late November and December.
