UCOP was notified that on September 8, 2025, our former Home and Auto insurance partner, California Casualty, recently experienced a cybersecurity incident that resulted in a system outage lasting approximately nine days.  During this time, most of California Casualty's systems were offline while the company enacted its security protocols and worked with third-party experts to investigate the issue.

As of September 17, 2025, all systems have been restored, and normal operations have resumed.  California Casualty has confirmed that the incident was the result of a cybersecurity event, and the investigation into the scope and nature of the affected data remains ongoing.

If any member attempted to make policy payments via the website or ACH (Automatic Clearing House) and experienced an error during the blackout period, they should contact California Casualty directly at 1-800-800-9410 to confirm that their payments were completed successfully and to remove any unintentional late fees that were automatically generated by the system.

We will continue to partner with California Casualty, and more information will be shared if it becomes known that data for UC members was affected.

Note: While California Casualty was UC's former Home and Auto insurance partner, they continue to insure over 19,500 auto and home insurance policies for our UC employees and retirees.
