UC Office of the President (UCOP) announced that effective October 12, 2025, all users of the UC Retirement At Your Service (UCRAYS) system are required to use multi-factor authentication (MFA), also known as Enhanced Login Security (ELS), when logging in or registering a new account.  This added layer of protection helps safeguard personal information by verifying your identity through your cell phone and/or personal email.

To support this transition, UCOP collaborated with the UCPath Center to update missing cell phone numbers in the UCOP Redwood system.  Additionally, the UC Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) sent email and postal communications to members who had not yet enrolled in ELS and lacked personal email addresses or cell phone numbers on file. These messages included instructions on how to update profiles.
