On May 6, 2025, WEX will mail the attached notice<https://documents.ucr.edu/HR-Benefits/benefits-UC-CustomEmailSend-Unsubstantiated%20Claims.pdf> to Flexible Spending Account (FSA) members with unsubstantiated claims from plan year 2023.  Some of the important points in this notification include:


  *   The necessity of properly substantiating expenses reimbursed through the FSA, in accordance with IRS regulations;


  *   Potential consequences of failing to address unsubstantiated claims;


  *   Detailed instructions on how participants can resolve this issue;


  *   A reminder that unsubstantiated claims will be treated as taxable income, and applicable income taxes will be withheld from their pay.

In addition, WEX will send an email to affected participants the week of May 12 - 18, 2025. The subject line of the email will be "ACTION REQUIRED on Your 2023 Unsubstantiated FSA Claims."
