UCPath will implement a PeopleSoft system upgrade, a redesigned UCPath user interface and a modernized benefits enrollment process on July 14, 2025, along with three additional projects on different implementation timelines. The July release includes:
1. UCPath PeopleSoft System Upgrade
UCPath will implement a systemwide upgrade to apply the latest Oracle-delivered functionality and technical updates. This upgrade includes:
* PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) upgrade from Image 47 to Image 49
* PeopleTools upgrade from version 8.60.13 to 8.61.11
* MuleSoft platform upgrade to align with JDK 17
These updates provide improved system performance, accessibility enhancements and technical compliance with vendor standards.
Key Upgrade Changes
The July 2025 upgrade includes the following feature enhancements for all users:
Search Improvements - UCPath replaced Elastic Search with OpenSearch. Page labels in search results show more specific and descriptive names (e.g., “UC Time and Labor Inbound” instead of “UC Customizations”), making it easier to locate the correct page.
Denied Transaction Visibility - Denied Manage Human Resources transactions are viewable directly within the Organizational Relationship section in UCPath. Users no longer need to run separate Cognos reports to review denied transaction details.
Improved Access to Historical Job Data - A “View History” button allows users to switch between current and historical access modes directly from the search page, streamlining the process for reviewing past job records.
1. UCPath Gets a New Look
UCPath will launch a redesigned user interface that offers a streamlined and intuitive experience for employees, managers and transactors.
Login Process
There is no change to how users log in to UCPath. Users will continue to access the system through https://ucpath.universityofcalifornia.edu<https://ucpath.universityofcalifornia.edu/>.
What’s Changing
* The UCPath portal interface redesign aligns with UC’s digital brand
* Menu navigation shifts from the left-hand side to a new top-level menu
* Employees will see grouped tiles for Pay, Benefits and Personal Information
* Transactors will access tools through a new Transactor Hub
* The alert and notices section supports multiple messages and improved formatting
Important Note
Bookmarked or documented links to specific UCPath pages will no longer work. All users should plan to navigate using the updated menu structure.
1. New Benefits Enhancements
As part of the Improve Self-Service project, UCPath will introduce a modernized benefits enrollment process and a new online benefits statement.
What’s Changing
* New step-by-step Activity Guides will support employees through life event enrollment
* Employees will be able to view and save benefits enrollment confirmation statements directly in UCPath
Implementation Reminders for July 14 Go-Live
* A final go/no-go decision is scheduled for July 3, 2025
* UCPath will be unavailable from Friday, July 11, 12:00PM to Monday, July 14, 6:00AM
1. Additional Projects in the July 2025 Release
The following projects are also included in the July 2025 release but will follow separate implementation timelines.
There will be no UCPath system downtime required for these projects.
Oracle financial support – UC Santa Barbara
* Go-live date: July 5, 2025
* UCPath will implement the “standard package” for payroll and general ledger integration to support UCSB’s transition to Oracle Cloud Financials (OCF)
GL updates – UCLA
* Go-live date: July 5, 2025
* UCPath will streamline UCLA’s local GAEL (General Automobile & Employment Practice Liability) assessment process by simplifying rate structures, reducing GAEL codes and improving financial efficiency
* The update also includes GL mapping to support the UCLA Medical Center’s OSHPD reporting requirements
Expanded Sick Leave policy (Phase 2)
* Go-live date: Post–July 14, 2025
* UCPath will implement a new sick leave bank and expand protected sick leave eligibility for select employee groups
* Phase 2 focuses on the academic bank’s eligible population and supports compliance with the updated UC systemwide policy
