UC Moves Spring Into Motion!<https://hr.ucr.edu/sites/default/files/2024-04/2024-ucr-spring-into-motion-flyer.pdf>  Wellness Challenge - Below are the list of wellness events for the month of May:

  *   Starts Monday, May 6th / Ends Sunday, June 2nd
  *   Teams of 3-40 people (I highly recommend teams of 3-5 people)
  *   Goal is to complete 60 points by the end of the challenge
  *   Steps to point breakdown:
     *   6000-7999 steps = 3 points
     *   8000-9999 steps = 4 points
     *   10,000+ steps = 5 points.
  *   Activities including gardening, stretching, performing chores, playing with the kids, etc. are eligible for the challenge and can be converted into steps
  *   Weekly raffle prizes for participants who complete 15 points by the end of each week
  *   Top prize for the Top Team and Top Individual. Raffle prize for participants who complete at least the challenge goal of 60 points

Okanagan Charter Champions and Workgroups Interest Form
As we continue with our efforts to move forward with elevating UCR to a health promoting campus, we invite you to submit your interest in joining the Champions or Action Groups. Details of the groups are noted below:

Champions Groups:

·                     Provide leadership as a co-chair for an action group

·                     Have content expertise

·                     Take a system-based approach to health, well-being, sustainability, health and equity

·                     Co-lead at least 1 action group meeting a month

·                     Facilitate group meetings, membership and initiatives

·                     Work in equal partnership with co-chair(s) to advance initiatives and distribute work among group members

·                     Provide training and direction on Okanagan Charter principles to action group members

·                     Attend monthly Champions Group meeting

·                     Report back to advisory group and Okanagan Charter Leads as needed
·                     Commit approximately 10 hours a month

Actions Groups:

·                     Attend action group meetings, typically once a month

·                     Assist in planning and execution of initiatives

·                     Assist Champions (co-chairs) as needed

·                     Commit 5 hours a month

Staff Pantry Volunteers Needed
Support our UCR Community and make a difference by volunteering for the Staff Pantry. The next scheduled event is Friday, May 17th and they need volunteers for the day before to help set up and the day to assist with the event. Health Net’s May webinar, Finding Joy in Good Works<https://hr.ucr.edu/sites/default/files/2024-05/hn_finding_joy_in_good_works.pdf> is all about learning how giving of yourself to others gives back to you. It can do your health and wellness good! Learn how doing good works can have a direct effect on your mental state of mind and help to promote a happier lifestyle! The Well: Glow Ride Event

Do you like to bike, run, or walk? Are you looking for something fun to do on a Friday night with friends and family? We have you covered! Join Health Well-being and Safety and Dean of Students for the Glow Ride on May 17th, from 6:00-8:00pm at the Student Health Services Building, near Lot 21. It is open to all UCR students, faculty, and staff. The event aims to provide a healthy alternative to going out on a Friday night, supporting mental health awareness and micromobility safety.

The event will include:

  *   FREE tacos for all participants after finishing the bike, walk or run = BALANCE
  *   FREE fanny packs for UCR students only, which include health promotion supplies
  *   FUN glow activities at various resource tables
  *   FREE t-shirts for UCR students, staff, and faculty after completion of the bike, walk or run *First 200 people that RSVP must be present at the event
  *   Great Music and Good Vibes --- and SCOTTY!
