UCOP was informed by Kaiser Permanente that on October 25, 2023, they experienced a data breach. The incident involved certain online technologies (known as cookies or pixels) that are installed on Kaiser websites and mobile applications that may have transmitted information such as IP addresses, names, and search data to third-party vendors. These technologies have since been removed.
The investigation concluded that Kaiser account credentials, Social Security numbers, and financial or credit card information were not involved. Kaiser is not aware of any misuse of this information.
Starting May 6, 2024, Kaiser will issue the Notice of Data Breach communication<https://hr.ucr.edu/sites/default/files/2024-05/kaiser_notice_of_data_breach.pdf> to affected participants. Members are also advised to be vigilant of any suspicious account activities and to call the Kaiser Foundation Incident Line (1-866-528-9259) with questions or concerns.
