Since that communication, updated information has been received that can be used as talking points to address any faculty/staff concerns.


         ·         Yesterday afternoon, September 9, 2021, an email<https://hr.ucr.edu/sites/g/files/rcwecm656/files/2021-09/notification-wex-account-processing-error9.10.21.pdf> was sent from WEX to the individuals whose account data was changed in error. This email explains what happened and that the problem is being corrected. It also notes that once the erroneous data is corrected, another automated email will be sent from WEX – similar to the one sent yesterday – notifying the employee that their information was changed.


         ·         UCOP received questions about why employees who have never used a plan administered by WEX were affected. The file sent to WEX in error included eligibility for the new Adoption Assistance Plan, which is open to all employees with full, mid-level and core benefits eligibility in the faculty and staff benefits program. When WEX receives an eligibility file; an account is created in their system for that employee in anticipation of the possibility that they may use the plan, even if the employee has not used the Adoption Assistance benefit.


         ·         This data issue may impact certain FSA transactions. While WEX informed us that a hold was placed on manually or electronically submitted FSA claims so that processing would not be adversely affected by incorrect participant information, it is possible that debit card transactions requiring zip code verification (common with online purchases) may be declined. Claims processing will resume after the corrected data has been loaded in WEX’s system.

FSA participants with questions about their Health FSA or DepCare transactions should call WEX at (844) 561-1338.
