Postdoctoral Scholars Benefits Plan – Discontinuation of Heal House Calls
Heal House Calls, a service available to postdoctoral scholars through the Health Net HMO and PPO plans, will no longer be available effective September 1, 2021. Heal will continue to provide services through August 31, 2021 only to members who have previously been seen by a Heal physician, and will work with patients to ensure a smooth transition of care. Heal ceased accepting new patients as of July 1, 2021.

Heal is exiting the commercial market in California as well as other states, as they transition from home-based care and telemedicine to long-term primary care for the senior population.

The utilization of Heal services has been low among the postdoc membership. In 2020, there were a total of 31 visits (25 of those rendered via telehealth), and seven members have used their services year-to-date.

Member communications are being determined, as Health Net was only recently notified of their exit from the market.
